Born and raised in Southern California, Ryan learned the craft of elite athlete training at an early age. He has been no stranger to winning and has been a part of winning teams from the high school level (North High) to the D-1 collegiate level (San Jose State University). Ryan got his first start as a strength and conditioning coach at Velocity Sports Performance (Redondo Beach facility, assisted under Performance Director Ken Vick and Head Performance Coach Nick O'Brien) while simultaneously excelling as an Equinox Tier 3+ trainer at the South Bay location. Through both he has coached athletes spanning from the NFL, MLB, USWNT, NCAA basketball, NCAA track and high school football. While at Velocity Sports Performance he served as assistant coach for athletes training for the 2009 and 2010 NFL Combines. In addition, Ryan has catapulted multiple high school football athletes to an All Area Selection and Tier 1 elite hockey players to get drafted in the USHL and BCHL.
Equipped with a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field, Ryan has helped various athletes at every level achieve their goals. He has served as fitness creative director for fitness videos featuring Kristi Yamaguchi and Erin O'Brien Denton (celebrity trainer).
Completing extensive studying in the field, learning and understanding the physiology associated with his own physical therapy and later in his personal training clients has allowed him to gain insight which has made him so impactful in the industry. In addition, since 2011, he has contributed to fitness on a global scale as a Nike Master Trainer and has given presentations to thousands of people on behalf of Nike Inc. Ryan has traveled the world consulting for product development, trained Nike celebs and athletes, contributed to events and has lead hundreds of participants in weekly workouts for the Nike Training Club fitness program as well as contributing training workouts to Nike’s training app (Nike Training Club). He has worked with every category in Nike from Nike SB to Nike football and everything in between. The projects range from apparel/footwear development contributions to working with Nike signature athletes and more. His approach to training is defined in the Rypen Fitness mantra: “Develop, Evolve, Thrive.” From the elderly retiree looking to get back in shape to the elite athlete pursing professional goals in competition, Ryan develops a tailored training regimen for every client. This individual focus and attention to detail enables his athletes to evolve more efficiently and effectively than ever imagined. Train with Rypen Fitness and thrive beyond your goals.
More recently, along with being the VP of Human Performance for Velocity Sports Performance Southbay, Ryan has been a strength & conditioning coach for the L.A. Junior Kings and has been so since 2014. He has done dryland training for Bantam teams up to 18 AAA Tier 1 elite teams.

Stephanie is a lifelong runner who received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from University of Southern California in 2017. A four time high school track state champion in Iowa and Wendy’s High School Heisman finalist, she attended Arizona State University as a member of the Sun Devil cross country and track teams and graduated
with a Bachelor’s of Science in kinesiology in 2012. Throughout her high school and collegiate running career she experienced recurrent stress-related injuries, and due to these personal experiences became increasingly interested in prevention and effective treatment of athletic injuries. Prior to attending physical therapy school, Stephanie worked as a personal trainer as well as in an outpatient physical therapy clinic as an aide
and front office assistant.
Stephanie’s clinical rotations throughout USC’s doctoral physical therapy program included invaluable experiences working with pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations with a wide range of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, primarily in outpatient settings. She gained knowledge of and experience with various techniques and
philosophies, including but not limited to postural restoration, trigger point, myofascial release, Functional Movement Screening, and pediatric hippotherapy. Stephanie presented running seminars to patients in Arizona and California, teaching general biomechanics and injury prevention strategies to runners of all ages. She also completed the Postural Restoration Institute’s Pelvic Restoration course in January 2017. In addition
to hands-on clinical experience while at USC, Stephanie volunteered with the UCLA Mobile Clinic, collaborating with medical students to perform health screens for disadvantaged populations living in Los Angeles. She also volunteered as an assistant with the South Hills cross country and track teams in West Covina, performing injury
screens and creating individualized therapeutic exercise programs for team members.
Stephanie will begin her post-graduate career at the University of Michigan as an orthopedic physical therapy resident, where she will gain further experience and expertise in the treatment of various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions. The residency program will culminate in an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist certification in the summer
